PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (May 24, 2024) – On May 23, a mother living in Homestead, Florida, experienced a life-changing event – the presentation of a vehicle to provide her critically needed transportation for her family – thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program along with car donor GEICO and repair partner Crash Champions.

NABC®, GEICO and Crash Champions West Palm Beach Congress presented a fully refurbished 2016 Nissan Altima to Rubelis Lossada Aguadcho.

Rubelis Lossada Aguadcho received her NABC Recycled Rides vehicle

Because the family was without reliable transportation, Rubelis Lossada Aguadcho walked her daughter to school and then used public transportation to get to work, leaving her husband to bicycle to get to his appointments and job interviews.  That was, until yesterday.  The presentation of the beautifully refurbished Nissan Altima will allow Rubelis to take her daughter to her medical appointments which are critical for her development and allow them to continue to move forward as a family.

“Receiving this car donation feels incredibly uplifting and deeply humbling,” Rubelis Aguadcho said after the presentation.  “This car will profoundly change our lives.  It means more freedom and less stress, allowing us to spend more quality time together and focus on building a brighter future.  Thank you for this generous gift.”

NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,300 vehicles valued at some $47 million.

“We want to find the people who need help and make a difference,” said Gene Caburian, vehicle donation program ambassador for GEICO. “It makes us feel wonderful to see people receiving a car that they would not otherwise be able to have.”

Additional partners in the presentation include Cars for Charity, Advanced Remarketing Services, Copart and Enterprise.
