PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (April 18, 2024) – On April 17, a U.S. Navy veteran living in Sedro-Woolley, Washington experienced a life-changing event – the presentation of  a vehicle to provide her the ability to get to work and to meet the transportation needs of her family – thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program, along with car donor Allstate and collision repair partner CARSTAR Parkland Collision.

NABC®, Allstate and CARSTAR Parkland Collision presented a completely refurbished 2018 Ford Explorer to Melissa Marrs, who served eight years in the U.S. Navy, earning numerous medals and commendations. The Marrs family lost their house in a fire and are currently lodging in the Family Promise shelter program while they wait for their house repairs to be finished. The donated vehicle will enable her to get to work and to meet the needs of her family.

“This car is such a blessing for our family,” Marrs said. “We’ve been working so hard to put our lives back together and this will help us get to work, school and daily life. We’re honored to be chosen to receive such a beautiful vehicle.”

That effort equates to a 4:1 ROI in dollar value delivered from NABC® membership dollars. The NABC Changing and Saving Lives Foundation, a 501c3 organization, is committed to the goal of driving change for veterans, military members, first responders and families in need, while harnessing the power of the collective membership of the collision repair industry to positively impact communities where we live and work. As demand for NABC® programs like NABC Recycled Rides® and NABC F.R.E.E.™ grows, so do the needs for resources to manage these important programs.
