PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (July 27, 2025) – While the engines fired for the 2025 Brickyard 400 Presented by PPG on Sunday, July 27, 2025, one race fan was ready to fire up the engine on the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer he was gifted that morning through the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program.

U.S. Navy veteran Scott Priest, a resident of Indianapolis, received a fully refurbished vehicle that will allow him to visit family and pursue job opportunities — thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor partner Allstate, repair partner Gerber Collision & Glass and event host PPG.
“What an incredible, amazing day – the best day ever,” said Scott Priest. “This vehicle is life changing, and will help me continue my job as a chef, fuel my dream of creating a natural pet food company and allow me to help those in need. To see a NASCAR race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of the day makes it even more special.”
Priest served in the U.S. Navy from 1990 to 1993 and was deployed to the Persian Gulf. During his service, he earned the Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation and the operation of Fiery Vigil Battle excellence medal, the C Service Ribbon and the National Defense Ribbon.
Priest graduated from the Second Helpings’ free seven-week Culinary Job Training program which is available to unemployed and underemployed adults in Central Indiana and is now thriving in his job as the food services coordinator for the Avenue’s Recovery Center. He has been relying on public transportation to get to and from work, the grocery store, and other errands. Having a car will enable him to spend less time commuting each day and allow him to spend more quality time with both his dog, Katya, and his out-of-town family. Transporting dog food and groceries on the bus is a challenge. As a chef, he loves to cook but has to be strategic in his weekly purchases to be able to get what he needs and manage it all on the bus. Having a reliable vehicle will not only ease his commute, but allow him to explore new job opportunities without worrying if the job fits into the bus route and times of operation.
The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer was donated by Allstate, a Level One partner in the NABC® and one of the largest donors of vehicles to NABC Recycled Rides®. It was refurbished by Gerber Collision & Glass, also a Level One partner in the NABC®. Gerber Collision & Glass locations are all I-CAR Gold Certified repair facilities. PPG, a sponsor in NASCAR and Indy Car, is also a Level One NABC® member.
NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,500 vehicles valued at some $51 million.
“As chair of the National Auto Body Council® and in my role with PPG Industries, it’s incredibly meaningful to be part of today’s NABC Recycled Rides® presentation here at the Brickyard 400,” said Tom Wolf, chairman of the NABC® board of directors and director, strategic business for PPG. “Providing a vehicle to a deserving veteran like Scott Priest is a powerful reminder of what this industry can accomplish when we come together. Reliable transportation is more than just mobility – it’s independence, opportunity and dignity. We’re proud to support this mission, and we thank all of our partners who help make moments like this possible.”
Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation include Spillers Towing, PPG, Hi Tech PDR, Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity and Copart.
