Two Events Took Place as part of the United Recyclers Group Conference in Denver

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (May 7, 2026) – Four deserving Denver-area veterans each received the gift of a lifetime in presentations held on Wednesday and Thursday – a newly refurbished vehicle to provide them independence and the ability to work and take care of their families – thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program along with vehicle donors GEICO and Allstate and repair partners Abra Auto Body, CARSTAR Autosport Collision, Gerber Collision & Glass and Crash Champions.
The presentations were held as part of the United Recyclers Group (URG) Training Conference in Denver. United Recyclers Group (URG) is a member-based organization that provides business solutions, software, and training for automotive recyclers to improve efficiency and profitability. Founded by recyclers for recyclers, URG helps members manage inventory, improve data integrity, and access training to thrive in the auto recycling industry. These vehicle presentations were a collaborative effort of URG members supplying recycled parts as part of the refurbishment of these NABC Recycled Rides®
The presentations began Wednesday at Stadium Auto Parts in Commerce City, CO. The second presentation took place on Thursday at Top Golf in Centennial, CO. At each event, two fully refurbished vehicles were presented to two veterans in need (full bios below):
A 2016 Mazda CX-3 was donated by GEICO, refurbished by CARSTAR Autosport Collision, and presented to Tiffany Robinson on Wednesday. She joined the military, serving in the Navy for a little over four years. During this time, Robinson served in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Constructionman/Utilitiesman (SeaBee), carrying on a family legacy of military service. She exited the Navy shortly after donating a kidney to her mother who had fallen ill and as one of two siblings who had been serving simultaneously. Robinson is a single parent to a 7-year-old boy, a duty she takes very seriously, as a conscientious parent. She also is proud to be an American, having felt great privilege growing up in the United States, and has always been happy to give back. This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will increase Robinson’s independence and quality of life for her and her son.
“You do good, you get good, and this is just amazing,” said recipient Tiffany Robinson. “All of this is not for me. It’s for other family members. It’s just awesome, thank NABC, GEICO, CARSTAR and everybody that made this possible.”
A 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan was donated by Allstate, refurbished by Abra Auto Body, and presented to Ben Maxie on Wednesday. Maxie served as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy from 1980-1997 and is the proud father to his young daughter. When he transitioned from the Navy, he lost his mother and was tasked with helping his younger brother take care of their family home. While he helped save the homestead for his siblings, he was unable to keep a roof over his own head and became homeless. Thanks to HUD-VASH he now has a roof over his head and is able to have joint custody of his 9-year-old daughter, offering her stability and becoming a huge part of her life. Parenting has become his focus at this point in his life and the addition of this vehicle will allow him even more stability.
A 2019 Toyota Camry was donated by GEICO, refurbished by Crash Champions, and presented to Matthew Elliott on Thursday. Elliott served his country from 2008-2014 in the U.S. Navy. The last six years have presented Elliott with obstacle after obstacle, that resulted in a period of homelessness, where he slept outside with his dog. He was working seven days a week, often 10–12 hours a day, renting vehicles just so he could deliver food and earn income. There were nights where he and his dog slept in the rental vehicle. Every night felt uncertain and dangerous. An unfortunate incident resulted in him losing the ability to make money delivering food and he and his dog wound up homeless and living in the streets for months, sleeping behind buildings, in the rain, snow, and cold. In 2024, through the VA’s VASH housing program, Matthew moved into an apartment. For the first time in years, he had walls, a door, and stability. He has since found part-time work at several jobs and has walked to every shift, rain or snow, or commuted by bicycle, which was donated to him by a church. He is also twelve credits away from completing his associate degree, which will help him find better employment and training opportunities. Elliott is the definition of endurance and perseverance, having survived homelessness, trauma, and instability. This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will allow him to pursue better jobs, finish his education and complete his long path to independence.
“This vehicle will finally allow me to finish school, get better job opportunities,” said recipient Matthew Elliott. “My options are limitless now and I just thank everybody who made this possible.”
A 2021 Ford Bronco was donated by GEICO, refurbished by Gerber Collision & Glass, and presented to Loyd Anderson on Thursday. Anderson served his country from 1970-1976 in the United States Army. He and his wife, who are about to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, are in great need and deserving of reliable transportation. Anderson has taken on the role of primary caregiver for his wife, who faces significant medical challenges impacting her mobility. Her appointments are a 60-mile round trip from their home. The recent passing of Anderson’s brother, who occasionally helped with transportation, has further strained their situation and resulted in missing some appointments. Without reliable transportation, this couple finds themselves in a challenging position, often unable to get to urgent care without relying on public transportation, which is far from ideal with Mrs. Anderson in a wheelchair. This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will not only provide essential transportation but also offer them peace of mind and stability in their daily lives.
