PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (March 20, 2026) – On Thursday, March 19, a U.S. Army veteran in need received a gift that dreams are made of—the donation of a beautifully refurbished vehicle that will restore his freedom, honor his lifelong resilience and allow him to maintain his health.  The donation was made possible by the NABC Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor GEICO and repair partner Caliber Collision.

The presentation took place at the Caliber Collision located in Tampa, FL.  The recipient was nominated by My Veterans Place Savannah.  My Veterans Place Savannah provides housing assistance, resources and mental health support to help veterans thrive, connect and rebuild their lives with dignity.

“I’m honored to be here today to give away this vehicle through the NABC Recycled Rides® program to a deserving veteran, Sergeant Roosevelt McCullough,” said George Hofman, regional vice president of Caliber Collision.  “This being my first experience with NABC Recycled Rides®, I’m overwhelmed by what we did here today.”

A 2019 Nissan Rogue, donated by GEICO and refurbished by the technicians at Caliber Collision, was presented to Roosevelt McCullough.  Roosevelt served nearly 10 years in the United States Army.  Those who know him say he is a kind and vibrant individual who continues to stay independent and active.  His current vehicle has over 200,000 miles on it, smokes, leaks oil, and has electrical problems, making it unsafe and unreliable.  Roosevelt often must borrow a vehicle or rely on friends to travel from Tampa to Orlando for medical appointments.  He constantly worries that his current vehicle will break down on the way to the grocery store or an important appointment.  It saddens him deeply that he cannot dependably travel to visit his mother, something that weighs heavily on his heart.  The cost of repairing his failing vehicle is overwhelming, leaving him with few options.  This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will not only lift Roosevelt’s emotional and financial weight but also restore his freedom, honor his lifelong resilience, and allow him to maintain his health.

“This vehicle will be life-changing for me, I’ll be able to do things I haven’t done in a long time,” said recipient Roosevelt McCullough.  “I can still do things independent of my family.  I can help my family instead of being the one that can’t do things, now I’ll be the one that can do anything.  I thank Caliber, GEICO, and NABC Recycled Rides® from the bottom of my heart.”

GEICO, a Level One partner of the National Auto Body Council®, has donated more than 1,000 vehicles to people and organizations through NABC Recycled Rides®, making it the largest car donor partner of NABC Recycled Rides®.

Caliber Collision, also a Level One partner, has donated more than 600 vehicles to military service members, veterans and other individuals in need of reliable transportation over the last 12 years.  All Caliber locations are I-CAR Gold Certified repair facilities.

NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation.  Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,750 vehicles valued at some $67 million.
