PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (June 11, 2026) – On Wednesday, June 10, a South Florida mother of four received a potentially lifesaving gift — the donation of a beautifully refurbished vehicle to help her manage daily responsibilities and provide a more secure, consistent and sterile environment for her family, including a child who is battling cancer.  The donation was thanks to the NABC Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor GEICO and repair partner AutoNation Collision Center Delray.

The presentation took place at the AutoNation Collision Center located in Delray Beach, FL.

AutoNation has been a frequent contributor of parts and materials for many NABC Recycled Rides® nationwide and this vehicle refurbishment marks the collision center’s first full program sponsorship.

The recipient was nominated by the Chasin’ A Dream Foundation. The Chasin’ A Dream Foundation provides direct, individualized assistance to local families of children battling life-threatening illnesses and disabilities. Their goal is to create a lasting impact by offering the critical resources and emotional support families need to face each day with courage.

“My AutoNation Collision Center Delray team is honored to have played a role in the refurbishment of a vehicle that will bring greater independence, enhanced stability and improved well-being to the Pierce family,” said Efrem Rodriguez, Collision Director at AutoNation Collision Center Delray. “These past six months reflect the dedication, craftmanship and collaboration of our team, and it’s one of the many ways in which we demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the communities we proudly serve.”

A 2021 Subaru Forester Sport, donated by GEICO and refurbished by the technicians at AutoNation Collision Center Delray, was presented to Samera Pierce.  She is the proud mother of four outstanding kids, including an 11-year-old child battling cancer.  Not having a reliable car for the last seven years has had a significant impact on their household, and without a vehicle, even simple tasks have become stressful and difficult to manage.  Depending on others or public transportation is not always reliable, and it limits their ability to be on time for medical appointments or respond quickly in important health situations. This has created added pressure on Pierce and has made it harder to maintain consistency in their daily routines.  This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will greatly improve Pierce’s ability to manage daily responsibilities and provide a more secure, consistent and sterile environment for her family.

“I’m very grateful, this vehicle means a lot, it opens up opportunities for me and my family, going to doctor’s appointments or just going out,” said recipient Samera Pierce.  “I’m just grateful and I just thank everyone that played a part in it.”

About the National Auto Body Council®:

The National Auto Body Council® is the premier organization of collision industry partners dedicated to strategic networking opportunities that positively change lives in the communities we serve. The collaborative membership of the National Auto Body Council® has gifted more than 3,750 vehicles valued at more than $67 million and provided extrication opportunities for some 7,000 First Responders in communities around the country through NABC Recycled Rides® and NABC First Responder Emergency Extrication (F.R.E.E.™).

The NABC Changing and Saving Lives Foundation, a 501c3 organization, is committed to the goal of driving change for veterans, military members, first responders and families in need, while harnessing the power of the collective membership of the collision repair industry to positively impact communities where we live and work. As demand for NABC® programs like NABC Recycled Rides® and NABC F.R.E.E.™ grows, so do the needs for resources to manage these important programs. Being able to pursue grants, gifts and donations allows NABC to expand these programs to serve those in need and help communities where we live and work.

The Changing and Saving Lives Foundation Keys for Change program also helps drive funding for key programs. The easy, efficient donation process allows vehicle owners to turn their unwanted vehicles into life-changing support. All vehicle donations fund critical programs that provide support and assistance for families in need, military members, veterans and first responders.
