PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (February 27, 2026) – On Thursday, February 26, a Phoenix single mother in need received the gift of a lifetime—the donation of a beautifully refurbished vehicle to help secure the future her and her children have been building. The donation was made possible by the NABC Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor Farmers and repair partner Allard Collision, which was acquired by OpenRoad Collision in 2023.

The presentation took place at the Farmers Insurance Phoenix Office. In addition to the vehicle, Enterprise and the employees of Farmers filled the trunk with vehicle accessories and household items for the family.
The recipient, Sara Holman, was nominated by Help Now AZ. Help Now AZ’s mission is to change the cycle of homelessness through our children, provide immediate aid and comfort, promote awareness and advance education for those who have found themselves in some form of homelessness.
“Personally, and professionally as an organization, it really hits home when you start to understand the struggles in life people have and how they struggle to do what a lot of us take for granted,” said James O’Neil of OpenRoad Collision. “Our mission is to improve other people’s lives, and I think this is one of the points that you know you really are improving someone’s life and it emotionally and personally affects you.”
A 2020 Nissan Murano, donated by Farmers and refurbished by the technicians at Allard Collision, was presented to Sara Holman.
Sara is a single mother from Phoenix of two teenagers. For an extended period, Sara and her children have experienced housing instability, living day-to-day in hotel rooms while she works multiple jobs to keep her family together. Every aspect of life—school, work, food, safety—has been dependent on survival-level decisions. Yet Sara has never stopped moving forward. She has maintained employment, protected her children’s emotional well-being and continued building toward stability even in the most uncertain circumstances. Today, Sara’s family has transitioned out of crisis. Her children are thriving academically and socially, and Sara has built a strong and advancing career in the automotive industry—working her way up through multiple roles and now pursuing leadership opportunities. Despite this progress, transportation remains her greatest barrier. Sara relies on rideshare services, creating more financial strain. The gift of a refurbished vehicle through NABC Recycled Rides® provides far more than a vehicle—it provides safety, consistency and sustainability. It removes a critical obstacle that threatens the progress Sara has already earned and helps ensure her family never has to return to crisis. Sara has done the work. This vehicle will help secure the future she and her children are building.
“I’m speechless, I feel thankful and grateful,” said recipient Sara Holman. “The kids are excited. My first stop will be for lunch. Maybe a convenience store for a slushie. This is going to help me, and my kids move forward to our next step in life.”
Farmers, a level one member of the NABC®, has donated nearly 100 vehicles to people and organizations in need through NABC Recycled Rides®.
