PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (October 13, 2025) – On Wednesday, October 8, a beautifully refurbished vehicle was donated to a United States Army veteran and mother of three from Charlotte, NC. The donation was made possible by the NABC Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor Allstate and repair partner Maaco of Greensboro, NC.

Tiwanna Kaiser receiving her refurbished 2020 Chevrolet Malibu

A 2020 Chevrolet Malibu was generously donated to Tiwanna Kaiser by Allstate and refurbished by the technicians Maaco in Greensboro, NC.  The presentation took place at Richard Childress Racing in Welcome, NC as part of their monthly Veterans Coffee event.  RCR has celebrated over 50 years of racing and earned more than 200 victories and 16 championships, including six in the NASCAR Cup Series with the legendary Dale Earnhardt.  Regarded as one of the most patriotic race teams within NASCAR, Veterans Coffee takes place on the second Wednesday of every month at the race shop and helps connect veterans to resources imperative to their livelihood and well-being.

“Our goals at Maaco are to help those around us and those we have the opportunity to meet and impact in the most positive way,” said Phil Collins, owner of multiple Maaco locations in North Carolina, including the Greensboro location which refurbished the vehicle.

“Allstate really loves giving back to our community and this event today really specializes what we do for veterans who bravely served our country,” said Jim Glenn, Director of Claims, Total Loss Delivery for Allstate.  “Truly Tiwanna [Kaiser] is a deserving individual and on behalf of all the local Allstate Good Hands people we are glad to have donated this vehicle to help as she moves ahead.”

Tiwanna Kaiser is a veteran of the United States Army, having served her country from 1989-1997.  She is a proud mother of three and grandmother of six. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Kaiser relocated to the South in 2011, determined to build a better life for her family. After years of unstable, dead-end positions, she made the decision to pursue higher education in 2019.  Kaiser enrolled at Johnson C. Smith University with the goal of earning a degree in Social Work, hoping it would open doors to a meaningful and stable career.  Unfortunately, her plans were derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.  She was hospitalized for seven days, and shortly after, suffered the devastating loss of her daughter.  Soon after, the home they had lived in was sold, and they were given just 30 days to vacate. This led to a period of homelessness– living in hotels, and occasionally in her car. Eventually, Kaiser entered a women’s shelter with her youngest son and grandson, while her oldest son remained in the car, as he was not permitted in the shelter. It was a heartbreaking and challenging time, but they persevered, and she remained committed to her education. Kaiser graduated in 2023 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is currently working from home due to her disability but continues to seek stable and fulfilling career opportunities that align with both her lived experience and her unwavering determination.  A refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will help Kaiser travel to her medical appointments as she continues to work and support her family.

“I was really surprised, I really was not expecting all of this, and I’m just grateful,” said recipient Tiwanna Kaiser.  “I think this is awesome and I’m just happy to see that people care about us.  When you join the military, they make you think once you come home, everybody will be so happy for you, there will be jobs waiting for you and it’s just wasn’t happening like that.  We just never felt like anybody cared.”

Kaiser experienced a tremendous outpouring of generosity, not only by receiving a beautiful vehicle, but also receiving a $500 gift card from Richard Childress Racing to assist in purchasing gas for the vehicle.

The recipient was nominated by Veterans Bridge Home.  Veterans Bridge Home is a committed advocate for service members, veterans, and their families in the Carolinas to create stronger communities one veteran at a time.
