CHARLOTTE, NC (November 16, 2022) – On Monday, November 14, the spouse of a Minnesota veteran experienced a life-changing event – the presentation of a vehicle to provide their family independence and the ability to work and take care of themselves – thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program along with car donor Allstate and collision repair partner Jerry’s ABRA Auto Body & Glass.
The presentation was held at Jerry’s ABRA Auto Body & Glass in Mankato, MN. The recipients were selected by the Minnesota Valley Action Council (MVAC).
“We are excited about participating in NABC Recycled Rides®,” says Dan Jones, representative of MVAC. “Jerry’s ABRA has a long history of helping those in need in our community and we’re proud to be a part of this program. We worked diligently to find the perfect match for this donation.”
The recipient, Katie Kunkel, received a 2017 Nissan Maxima, to help her and her husband Mike Petrick, a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, take care of their young children, get to day care, and allow Katie to complete her education and seek employment.
This is the ninth year Jerry’s ABRA Auto Body & Glass has given a refurbished vehicle to a deserving member of Southern Minnesota. The initiative is a collaborative effort with the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program.
“We have been a part of NABC® for many years with the goal of improving the image of automotive repairers,” said Geralynn Kottschade, CFO and co-owner of Jerry’s ABRA Auto Body & Glass. “We are honored to give back to a community that has been incredibly supportive of us for more than five decades. Providing the family of a veteran who served to protect us and gave so much of themselves a hand up with reliable transportation means the world to our team here at Jerry’s ABRA Auto Body & Glass.”
NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 3,000 vehicles valued at some $42 million.
Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included 1-800 Charity Cars and Affordable Towing, which towed the vehicle to Mankato from Metro Area.
