PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (March 21, 2025) – On March 19, a decorated member of the Virginia National Guard received a life-changing gift – the presentation of a vehicle to provide him with transportation for his and his family’s critical medical appointments, work and everyday life – thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program along with car donor insurance partner Travelers and collision repair partner Joe Hudson’s Collision Center.

The vehicle was donated by Travelers and refurbished by the technicians of Joe Hudson’s Collision Center of Mechanicsville.

Timothy Johnston receiving his donated vehicle

The recipient, Timothy Johnston, is a soldier who will be retiring from the military due to a service-related injury. He is a husband and the father of two young boys.  Their only vehicle was on its last legs, making it unreasonable to be repaired. Specialist Johnston is currently employed in the construction/electrical industry. He has training and certifications in information sciences, welding and HVAC, and he is working on his bachelor’s degree in computer science. The donated vehicle will be essential in solving the family’s many transportation needs.

There are more than 250 Joe Hudson’s Collision Center locations in the Southeast, Midwest and Atlantic states, many of which have participated in NABC Recycled Rides® car donations over the years.

Travelers has been a longtime supporter of the NABC Recycled Rides program, donating vehicles to the program for the last ten years.

NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,500 vehicles valued at some $51 million.

Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included KSI Auto Parts, Classic Detailing, Seredni Tire and Auto Center, WheelsOnsite, Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity, Copart, and Enterprise.
