PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (January 12, 2025) On January 10, a deserving head of her family from Rancho Cucamonga received a much-needed boost that will be a turning point for her and the ones she is caring for– a fully refurbished vehicle – thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program along with car donor GEICO and collision repair partner Fix Auto.
Karishma Velasco-Valdevinos cares for her mother and the two children of another family member. Mother and daughter were in an accident that totaled their vehicle, a family member who had been contributing to their monthly income died, and their rent was increased, all in the last 15 months. The NABC Recycled Rides® donated vehicle, a fully refurbished 2019 Nissan Rogue, provides Velasco-Valdevinos a desperately needed means to get to work and to get the children to school. It represents a blessing after months of setbacks.
GEICO has donated more than 1000 vehicle to the NABC Recycled Rides® program since 2007, and Fix Auto has participated in many vehicle giftings.
Fix Auto Chino, whose technicians brought the vehicle to its beautifully refurbished condition, is owned by Selvi Rizk Menard, who also owns Fix Auto locations in Moreno Valley and Brea. She has created a legacy of giving back through NABC Recycled Rides® and many community projects. She credits the success of her business to the Fix Auto franchise model, which allows her company to make operational improvements and to collaborate with other franchisees.
“Fix Auto Chino is very proud to be a part of the NABC Recycled Rides program,” commented owner Selvi Rizk Menard. “We are excited to kick off the new year and our new location by giving back to a deserving recipient in our community. Our team at Fix Auto put their time and effort into repairing the car and it is gratifying for me to see our team eager to make a difference in someone’s life.”
Velasco-Valdevinos was nominated for the donated vehicle by the Hope through Housing Foundation.
NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,500 vehicles valued at some $50 million.
Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included Cars for Charity, Copart, Advanced Remarketing Services and Enterprise.
