PORT CHARLOTTE, FL  (January 24, 2025) – On January 21, A U.S. Navy veteran and single father of three sons from Plattsmouth, Nebraska received keys to a fully refurbished vehicle through the NABC Recycled Rides® program and its partners Caliber Collision and GEICO. The donation was a thank-you for his service and a way to relieve the family’s transportation challenges.

The vehicle, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra, was donated by GEICO and beautifully refurbished by technicians at Caliber Collision’s 118th Street location in Omaha who volunteered their personal time and skills to restore the vehicle.

Without a car of his own, it has been a challenge for Brian Becerra to juggle transportation for work and the hectic school and extracurricular schedules of three sons, ages 9, 13 and 17. When his eldest son was in a serious accident, Becerra had to rely on costly rideshares to get back and forth to the hospital. The son is recovering but will need further medical follow-up in the months ahead. Becerra himself is disabled with service-connected injuries and has frequent V.A. appointments. A car of their own will give the Becerra family the freedom to enjoy family trips and spend more time together.

Becerra was nominated for the vehicle donation by the nonprofit Soldiers’ Angels.

Over the past 12 years, Caliber Collision and its industry partners, through the NABC Recycled Rides Program, have donated nearly 600 vehicles to military service members, veterans and other individuals in need of reliable transportation.

NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,500 vehicles valued at some $51 million.

Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included Cars for Charity, Advanced Remarketing Services, Copart and Enterprise.
