PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (January 16, 2025) – On January 15, a U.S. Navy veteran who in the past participated in refurbishing and gifting vehicles to families in need, was now on the other end of this life-changing gift, receiving a vehicle of his own, thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program, along with vehicle donor Allstate and collision repair partners Maaco Auto Body and Meineke Car Care.

Allstate, Maaco and Meineke presented a fully refurbished 2017 Chevrolet Silverado to Terry Lane, who served two years in the U.S. Navy and followed that service with a successful career in auto body repair. In that role, he oversaw the refurbishing and repairing of minivans that were gifted to families in need.
A longtime member of veterans’ organizations, Lane has also been involved in helping homeless veterans. Lane was an athlete, competing in recreational and competitive ice and roller hockey, NHRA, IndyCar, NASCAR, Formula 1 auto racing. He became paraplegic after a failed back surgery, but after a long and painful recovery he has fought back and can cover short distances with a walker. Now that he is going to own the NABC Recycled Rides® vehicle, Lane plans to seek out volunteer opportunities and continue to “pay it forward.” The donated vehicle will ensure that Michael can get to work and to appointments reliably.
Lane was nominated for NABC Recycled Rides® by the Arizona chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Maaco Tempe and Deer Valley and Meineke Deer Valley are owned by Freedom Brands LLC, a multi-store owner of five Meineke Car Care franchises and four Maaco locations across Phoenix, Tucson and Prescott, Arizona. Since opening in 2020, they have experienced tremendous growth and success, and part of that success has given them the ability and resources to be able to give back to those in need in their community in which they live and work. This is their third NABC Recycled Ride.
“It has been a pleasure to work with our partners to be able to provide a vehicle to a veteran in need,” commented Jake Brown, co-owner of Freedom Brands. “The gifting process is something we value in our company more than anything. We hope for many more opportunities to give back this year.”
NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,500 vehicles valued at some $51 million.
Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation include American Warrier Auto Glass, Advanced Auto Parks, AutoZone, Freedom Foundation, FMP Motorparts, New Image, Cars for Charity, Advanced Remarketing Services, Enterprise and Copart.
