PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (December 23, 2024) – On December 20, a resident of Louisville and an agency that serves the needs of individuals with disabilities each experienced a momentous event–the presentation of vehicles that will change lives–thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program along with car donor Allstate and repair partner Glaser’s Collision Center-Oldham County.

NABC®, Allstate and Glaser’s Collision presented a fully refurbished 2019 Nissan Altima to Immah Mendoza, who has been depending on ride shares to get to work and to school, where she is on the way to getting a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. Finding an affordable car has been very difficult. Despite hardships, including having a child at 15 and helping take care of her daughter, her father and herself through health issues, Mendoza graduated high school with honors, and navigated the complexities of raising a child while also supporting her family. Inspired by others’ success stories, she focused on improving her mental and physical well-being. Mendoza is well on the way to achieving her dreams and the NABC® donated vehicle will go a long way to making her dreams possible.
NABC®, Allstate and Glaser’s Collision Center also presented a beautifully refurbished 2019 Honda Odyssey to Cedar Lake Residences. The NABC® donated vehicle will help expand Cedar Lake’s mission by allowing more individuals to have access its services, including its day program for intellectually and developmentally disabled adults. They attend the Cedar Lake Enrichment Center (CLEC) when they might otherwise be isolated at home. This addition to Cedar Lake’s fleet will also allow more clients to make trips to the zoo or the drive-in movie theater nearby. The vehicle will also expand Cedar Lake’s capacity to take people to work, day programs, errands, doctors’ appointments, family visits, etc.
“We’re incredibly thankful for the support our community has shown us over 38 years,” said Aaron Glaser, one of the owners of Glaser’s Collision Center. “Partnering with the National Auto Body Council and other businesses to give back during the holiday season is a privilege. This effort is about coming together to make a real difference, and we’re honored to help Cedar Lake and Immah Mendoza in this way.”
Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included LKQ, All Start Auto Lights, GIPE Auto Color, Christian Brothers Automotive-Crestwood, Advanced Remarketing Services, Hi-Way Muffler, Digital EFX, Cars for Charity, Copart, Win4 and Enterprise.
