PORT CHARLOTTE, FL  (August 22, 2024) – A single mother working two jobs to support her children recently experienced a life-changing event–the presentation of a vehicle to provide her independence and critically needed transportation–thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program along with car donor Allstate and repair partner Gerber Collision & Glass-Maineville, Ohio.

NABC®, Allstate and Gerber Collision & Glass presented a fully refurbished 2017 Nissan Altima as part of Gerber Night at the Fort Wayne TinCaps game.

Trish Mathus is working two jobs to make the best life for her children, aged 10 and 13, but she has found it nearly impossible to save money while driving an old van that breaks down all the time. Her nominator called Trish the perfect candidate for NABC Recycled Rides®. The family was devastated when her niece died at the age of four. Trish and her children struggled with the loss but found support from Erin’s House for Grieving Children. Trish has also given back to Erin’s House by speaking at its largest fundraiser, sharing her story and why Erin’s House is so important to her family.

“This gift is opening a new part of my life,” said Trish Mathus.  “It’s not just a car. It connects me with my children, because we have the best times together when we’re going somewhere.  It’s amazing.”

NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,300 vehicles valued at some $47 million.

Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included the Fort Wayne TinCaps, Spilling Towing, 1-800 Charity Cars and Copart.
