PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (July 23, 2025) – On Tuesday, July 22, a central Florida woman recovering from years of difficulties received a profoundly important gift to help her continue her growth in her career and as a mother—thanks to the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program, along with vehicle donor Allstate and collision repair partner Gerber Collision & Glass.

Allstate donated the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox and the expert technicians of Gerber Collision & Glass fully refurbished it to present to Carrie Ashby.
Carrie Ashby’s story is one of perseverance and determination that has resulted in a significant change in the trajectory of her life. Ashby has suffered from an abusive home life and in a relationship and is doing everything she can to be a productive member of society and a good mother to her child. In the last five years, she has overcome addiction and, through the LifeWorks training at Jobs Partnership, has learned job skills that have helped her progress from part-time employment to full-time and to saving money and home ownership. The gift of reliable transportation is the next step toward ensuring that Ashby can continue rebuilding her life with her son and build upon all her hard work and progress.
Ashby was nominated for the NABC Recycled Rides® program by Jobs Partnership, an organization that assists the unemployed, underemployed, or those seeking a better life, breakdown roadblocks to employment and a life-changing career through career coaching, skill development and training.
“I can’t believe how beautiful this car is” said Ashby after seeing her new vehicle. “The GPS will be amazing. It is going to be so different from taking the bus, and ride sharing. Thank you to the NABC, Allstate who donated the car, The technicians at Gerber Collision who worked on the car, and everyone who was so generous with gift cards and gas cards and car care products to keep it looking as nice as it does now. I am beyond grateful.”
Allstate is a Level One member of the NABC® and is one of the largest donors of vehicles to the NABC Recycled Rides® program, having given more than 300.
Gerber Collision & Glass, also a Level One member of the NABC®, was founded in 1937 as a single glass and trim shop, and has grown to be one of the largest auto collision and glass repair companies in North America. Gerber Collision & Glass locations are all I-CAR Gold Certified repair facilities.
NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,500 vehicles valued at some $51 million.
Additional partners in the NABC Recycled Rides® presentation included O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, Larry Allen Enterprises, Mobile Auto Solutions, Advanced Remarketing Services, Cars for Charity, Enterprise and Copart.
