PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (May 15, 2026) – On Wednesday, May 13, a Houston single mother in need received the ultimate gift – a refurbished vehicle to manage everyday responsibilities, including her own health care, and provide for her son.  The donation was made possible by the NABC Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor GEICO and repair partner Caliber Collision.

The presentation took place at the Caliber Collision located in Spring, TX, a suburb of Houston.  The recipient was nominated by the She’s Happy Foundation.  The She’s Happy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that began in response to the needs of inner-city youth in Houston, who required school supplies, haircuts, and toys for Christmas. As one of the leading charitable organizations in Houston, they are committed to helping low-income families achieve lasting independence through their youth mentoring and community service programs.

Jadare Scott and her son receiving their 2021 Nissan Murano SL, donated by GEICO and refurbished by the technicians at Caliber Collision

A 2021 Nissan Murano SL, donated by GEICO and refurbished by the technicians at Caliber Collision, was presented to Jadare Scott.  She will greatly benefit from receiving this vehicle gift as she has a dire need for reliable transportation.  As a single mother, Scott is solely responsible for managing all aspects of daily life for herself and her son, including meeting essential obligations that require consistent and dependable mobility.  She has also faced significant health challenges, having suffered two strokes, which make access to reliable transportation even more critical for attending ongoing medical appointments and managing her health.  Additionally, her son lost his father two years ago, making her his sole source of care, stability, and support during a very difficult time.  Currently, the lack of transportation presents a significant challenge in maintaining stability for her household.  At present, Scott relies on rides from neighbors, family, friends, or ride-share services, which often result in critical delays and have become increasingly costly.  Without dependable transportation, routine yet essential tasks, like grocery shopping, have become increasingly difficult to manage, contributing to ongoing disruptions and adversely affecting both her and her child’s overall quality of life.  This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will not only support Scott’s independence but also help create a more stable and secure environment for her family.  It will alleviate ongoing logistical challenges and allow her to focus more fully on caring for her child and maintaining their overall well-being.

GEICO, a Level One partner of the National Auto Body Council®, has donated more than 1,000 vehicles to people and organizations through NABC Recycled Rides®, making it the largest car donor partner of NABC Recycled Rides®.

Caliber Collision, also a Level One partner, has donated more than 600 vehicles to military service members, veterans and other individuals in need of reliable transportation over the last 12 years. All Caliber locations are I-CAR Gold Certified repair facilities.

NABC Recycled Rides® is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides® program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council® have donated more than 3,750 vehicles valued at some $67 million.

About the National Auto Body Council®:

The NABC Changing and Saving Lives Foundation, a 501c3 organization, is committed to the goal of driving change for veterans, military members, first responders and families in need, while harnessing the power of the collective membership of the collision repair industry to positively impact communities where we live and work. As demand for NABC® programs like NABC Recycled Rides® and NABC F.R.E.E.™ grows, so do the needs for resources to manage these important programs. Being able to pursue grants, gifts and donations allows NABC to expand these programs to serve those in need and help communities where we live and work.

The Changing and Saving Lives Foundation Keys for Change program also helps drive funding for key programs. The easy, efficient donation process allows vehicle owners to turn their unwanted vehicles into life-changing support. All vehicle donations fund critical programs that provide support and assistance for families in need, military members, veterans and first responders.
