Presentation of the NABC Recycled Ride® Took Place at ABRA Auto Body in Moorhead, MN

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (August 19, 2026) – Recently, a U.S. Army veteran from West Fargo, ND, received the gift of a lifetime — a beautifully refurbished vehicle to help him continue caring for his disabled daughter. The donation was made possible by the NABC Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor Farmers Insurance® and repair partner ABRA Auto Body, part of the Driven Brands family of automotive products.
The presentation was held at the ABRA Auto Body located in Moorhead, MN. The recipient was nominated by Cass County Veterans Services. Cass County Veterans Services serves over 11,000 individual heroes and their families by assisting them with their specific needs and confirming eligibility to open the door to all the benefits that go along with serving in the United States Military.
A 2022 Honda Pilot, donated by Farmers and refurbished by the technicians at ABRA Auto Body, was presented to Stanley Mitchell.
“This is a very beautiful feeling to tell you the truth,” said recipient Mitchell. “I have a really appreciative feeling knowing that there’s people out in the community, friends really, that think of me this way.”
Mitchell is an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran who served as a Cavalry Scout in Germany from 1988 to 1991. During his military service, he met his wife, who also proudly served our country. Tragically, she passed away several years ago from service-connected conditions, leaving Mitchell to navigate life as a widower, while serving as the primary caregiver for their disabled daughter. Following the loss of his wife, Mitchell was forced to sell the family home because he could no longer afford the mortgage. Despite these significant life changes, he has remained focused on providing a safe, stable, and supportive home for his daughter. She must attend frequent medical appointments, making reliable transportation essential to their daily lives. This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will be life-changing for this family and will allow Mitchell to continue being the devoted father and caregiver his daughter depends on while maintaining access to the healthcare they both require.
Those in the community can support this life-changing program in two ways – donate to the program directly or donate their unwanted or non-running vehicle through the Changing and Saving Lives Keys for Change program. They will receive a tax donation for their contribution, and proceeds will help provide reliable transportation for those in need across the country – and in their community.
