PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (October 31, 2025) – On Tuesday, October 28, a United States Army National Guard veteran received a life-changing gift—the donation of a beautifully refurbished vehicle to help as he continues to work and serve the community. The donation was made possible by the NABC Recycled Rides® program, vehicle donor GEICO and repair partner Texas Collision Centers.

Louis Kirk receiving his fully refurbished 2017 Nissan Sentra

The presentation of a 2017 Nissan Sentra took place at the GEICO corporate office in Richardson, TX as part of Giving Tuesday.  The recipient was nominated by the Texas Veterans Commission.  The Texas Veterans Commission’s goal is to advocate for and provide superior service that will significantly improve the quality of life for all Texas veterans, their families and survivors.

“Texas Collision Centers is so very grateful to have been chosen as the repair partner to refurbish this vehicle for the benefit of such a worthy veteran recipient in Mr. Kirk,” said Shyllo Michaelis, Chief Strategy Officer for Texas Collision Centers.  “Giving back to the communities we serve is engrained in our culture and an important part of our identify as an organization.”

Louis Kirk was a soldier in the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1992-1998.  He is a valued member of the Denton American Jobs Center Employment Services staff.  Kirk can always be counted on to help both veterans and civilians each day he works.  Because he is without a reliable vehicle, he often must rely on public transportation or generous co-workers to help him travel between his home and office.  Kirk is always caring, receptive and giving of his time to assist others. This refurbished vehicle from the NABC Recycled Rides® program will help him continue his work, allow him to have greater independence and increased self-esteem.

GEICO, a Level One partner of the National Auto Body Council®, has donated more than a thousand vehicles to people and organizations through NABC Recycled Rides, making it the largest car donor partner of NABC Recycled Rides.
