Jeremiah's CARSTAR Collission

The Recycled Rides® vehicle was donated to Edwina Mugunbay, a retired Army Veteran who has fought 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. She is a single mom who had to walk several miles a day for a part time job to support her young daughter. Because she now has a vehicle she was able to find a full time position. Because of the generosity of our vendors and partners we were able to ascertain 4K in gift cards/and goods.

The Collision Centers

Two wartime veterans were recognized for their military service and gifted with vehicles. These veterans have struggled since they returned from serving the United States. Both from Long Island and reside with their children and spouses, began to feel the pain of not having a vehicle. From walking to doctor’s appointments for their sons, struggling to buy food, to using their last monies for the bus fare, the two veterans were hit with challenges after challenges. The ceremony took place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, at the United Veterans Beacon House on the grounds of Northport VA Medical Center.

Team Up With Your Industry Partners To Repair And Donate Vehicles

In 2022, the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides program marked a major milestone — the presentation of our 3,000 vehicle to someone in need. This year marks the 17-year anniversary of the National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program which since its inception in 2007, has changed and saved thousands of lives.

Most of us take transportation for granted. But for many people, routine activities such as going to work, taking kids to school, grocery shopping and medical visits are a challenge. A catastrophic illness or unforeseen circumstances can suddenly change lives and without transportation, make it difficult to get back on the road to stability.

Through NABC Recycled Rides®, NABC® members can play an important role to help open doors to better opportunities, employment, enriched quality of life and increased self-esteem.

NABC® members are in a unique position to change and save lives by teaming up with collision industry colleagues to refurbish and donate vehicles to individuals and service organizations in need. This collaboration of businesses representing all facets of the collision industry – insurers, collision repairers, paint suppliers, parts vendors and others – has resulted in more than 3,000 vehicles valued at $42 million donated in local communities across the country. The average value of gifted vehicles is $18,000.

GEICO has been involved with the NABC Recycled Rides® program for over a decade, and a lot of great relationships have been built over the years. During that time, we have seen that our involvement in the program extends beyond helping individual families in need. The vehicles that we donate to the program are not only changing the lives of those who receive the vehicles, but are also impacting communities. Those who have been nominated by various non-profits to receive vehicles are often already paying it forward by volunteering in the their communities, and now they can do even more with their vehicles. It humbles me to be a part of this great program, and I’m ecstatic that GEICO is on pace to donate 200 cars this year.

"The partnership of matching families that have a refurbished future with these amazing vehicles that have been refurbished by local body shops is one of the best programs we have ever engaged in at Family Promise of Las Vegas. More than 80 Las Vegas families have benefited from this partnership since 2009 - There are no words to describe how life changing the NABC Recycled Rides® program is to our families."
